Hello, my name is Theodora. I was born in North London and now live in Walthamstow, East London, with my husband, two children and two very old cats. I try to knit and crochet each day.
Hello, my name is Theodora and I'm 44. If I have to be a grown-up, I still want to play with toys. My toys just happen to be clothes.
I was born in North London and now live in Walthamstow, East London, with my husband, two children and two very old cats.
As I said, I like clothes, and I love dressing up. I make a lot of jumpers, either my own designs (left), or from vintage patterns. But I'm not limited by one era, I am equally happy in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. My budget doesn't quite stretch to designer duds, so the thrift/charity shops are my stomping ground.
I've been knitting and crocheting for over 10 years. I was drawn to vintage patterns soon after I taught myself to knit, having always had a soft spot for the fashion, music and films of the 1930s and 40s. I have Agatha Christie to thank for my love of that period, being introduced to her at a young and impressionable age. (Thanks Dad).
I was involved with Susan Crawford's A Stitch In Time books, which was a truly amazing experience, and gave me the push to get designing. I designed my first cardigan in 2008 and have since added lots of designs to my shop.
I run workshops in my kitchen studio in East London, teaching knitting and crochet to people who want to master a skill that gives so much creative pleasure.
